Research has consistently shown that continuous support from a doula can lead to improved birth outcomes. Families who have continuous labor support are more likely to experience spontaneous vaginal births, are less likely to use pain medication or require cesarean births, often have shorter labors, report greater satisfaction with their birth experience, and welcome babies who are less likely to experience complications at birth. 

Long before I knew what a doula was, I experienced a moment that would stay with me deeply. Years later, as I learned more about birth support and the role of a doula, I began to see how the pieces of that experience connected. I found myself wishing that family had been surrounded by the guidance, advocacy, and emotional support a doula can provide. Perhaps having someone present to offer information, reassurance, and a voice of support could have helped create a gentler experience and reduced unnecessary medical interventions and trauma for both the baby and the family.

That experience became part of the calling that led me toward birth work—the desire to help families feel informed, empowered, and deeply supported during one of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives.

A doula's presence also allows your partner to soften into their own role. Rather than carrying the full responsibility of supporting labor, they are free to be more present, connected, and able to fully experience the wonder and beauty of welcoming your baby together.

With 20 + years of experience as a licensed massage therapist and holistic practitioner, I offer healing touch that can begin long before labor begins. Prenatal massage can help improve sleep, ease physical discomfort, reduce stress and anxiety, support emotional well-being, and prepare the body for birth. These sessions become an opportunity to slow down, connect with your baby, and cultivate a deeper sense of trust in your body's natural intelligence.

I have come to see birth as both a profoundly physical and deeply spiritual experience. It is a rite of passage that invites surrender, courage, and transformation—not only for the baby being born, but for the mother as well.
